New Case Study Validates TrueCapture’s New Bifacial PV Optimization Mode Boosts Solar Plant Revenues
Building on gigawatts of deployment data, Nextracker adds new algorithms for bifacial PV modules to its industry-leading TrueCapture™ solar tracker yield optimization software.
TrueCapture’s new Split Boost algorithm leverages advanced sensors, site-specific digital twin modeling, unrivaled historical datasets, and the independent-row architecture of the NX Horizon™ tracker platform to boost the output of utility solar plants with bifacial PV modules. By maximizing irradiance on the top half of a module row while allowing shading on the bottom half, Split Boost takes full advantage of the shade tolerance of bifacial cells to deliver bankable gains in production – and project revenues.
To prove these benefits, Nextracker commissioned the leading European engineering firm Enertis to evaluate the performance of TrueCapture with Split Boost at the Bomen utility solar project in New South Wales, Australia. This case study details yield improvements under both clear-sky and cloudy weather conditions as well as estimated increases in financial returns over the project’s 35-year life.
