Integrated Tracker and Foundation Solution Tackles Varied Ground Conditions and Severe Weather
The Ojjo Earth Truss® foundation system combined with Nextracker's NX Horizon™ solar tracker can deliver groundbreaking opportunities for EPCs and developer-owners.
Located in Klamath County, Oregon, this project is part of a 1.6 GW portfolio of solar and energy storage projects. The site has a wide variety of intermixed ground conditions, including volcanic basalt boulders and a hard bedrock layer at fluctuating depths, plus soft, silty agricultural soil, layers of sandstone, and compacted gravel. These conditions would have challenged traditional H-pile foundations. The developers were able to overcome these challenges with the Ojjo Earth Truss foundation system by Nextracker, ensuring that the project was delivered on time and within budget.
This case study details how innovative integration of foundation and tracking technologies can expand the frontier for excellence in utility-scale solar, making it possible to land solar anywhere.
